So, today is the first day of February, which means that logically January has passed. The significance of it all? It all ties back to my New Year’s resolution of being astutely aware of my purchase power by limiting my shopping muscles to one item per month. Seemed like a drastic move and highly unrealistic for a gal who has known to have trouble with ….er, limits. Well, the reality of it all is that this past month was good for curbing the shopping bug. I opted out of daily emails notifying me of sale-of-the-day, stayed away from stores, and kept my online window shopping to a minimum. Definitely effective and I made a concerted effort, even when I was clicks away from confirming a purchase, to walk away. With that said, I did go over my limit and wound up with 3 purchases for the month of January. All from JCrew and all totaling $100. Obviously I did not meet my goal, but I’m still satisfied with my behavior. I thought long and hard about each purchase, made certain the pieces would be workhorses for my wardrobe, and didn’t think twice about it.
One of the purchases was this skirt, which I had been eyeing for a while. With a great promotion and enough snooping around JCrew blogs to verify sizing, this final sale was a success. I decided to pair it with a safe neutral base, and maybe next time play around with more color. In case anyone’s wondering or considering this skirt, it fit true to size and I went with my typical size 0.
